Atlantic Road (No Time to Die), Norway

Landscape Half day difficulty: Moderate with kids: yes
Atlantic Road (No Time to Die), Norway

A road that hops from islet to islet along the west coast of Norway, linking bridges that look like concrete waves over the open sea. On stormy days the waves break over the asphalt; on calm ones, it's one of the most beautiful drives in the world.

The pop wink

Along this road of undulating bridges over the sea, James Bond races in his Aston Martin in «No Time to Die» (2021). The most famous bridge, the Storseisundet, has a curve so steep that from afar it seems to break off into the air.

With kids

  • Cross the bridges that curve like waves over the sea
  • Look for the bridge that from afar seems to end in mid-air
  • Watch the sea break against the rocks from the lookouts
  • Remember Bond's Aston Martin racing along this very route
Accessibility: All ages; driven by car, stop at the lookouts

With family

  • Stop at the lookouts to spot seals, birds, and sometimes whales
  • Drive the route slowly, pausing at each islet
  • Watch the raging sea on a stormy day, from a safe place
  • Combine the trip with the nearby fjords and fishing villages
