Beneath the streets of Paris, twenty meters down, a maze of tunnels holds the neatly arranged bones of millions of Parisians from centuries ago. You walk a lit stretch, between walls made of skulls, in an atmosphere more silent and solemn than terrifying.

In the late 18th century, Paris moved to these tunnels the remains of almost six million people from overcrowded cemeteries. It's not a set: they are real people who lived centuries ago, which is why the place is visited in silence and with respect, like a cemetery.
