City Museum, St. Louis

A museum like no other, built inside an old factory in St. Louis: instead of display cases, there are tunnels, ten-story slides, caves, real hanging airplanes, and a castle to climb. Everything is made for climbing, crawling, and sliding; it's an indoor adventure park.

The pop wink

A sculptor turned this old shoe factory into a giant maze made of salvaged materials: old planes, bridges, chimneys. It's not a museum for looking but for climbing, crawling, and sliding inside the work of art.

With kids

  • Slide down the ten-story slide
  • Crawl through metal tunnels that cross from one side of the building to the other
  • Climb up to the real airplanes hanging on high
  • Explore the artificial caves without knowing where they lead
Accessibility: All active ages; wear comfortable clothes and knee pads, there's lots of climbing

With family

  • Get lost together in the maze with no map and no rush
  • Discover how it was all built from recycled materials
  • Go up to the rooftop, where there's a Ferris wheel
  • Take turns going down the longest slides
